Washington, DC – In the dead of night, Senator Alsobrooks (D-Md.) voted against the Republican budget bill. This bill is paving the way for tax cuts for billionaires, cuts that will be paid for on the backs of working-class Americans.
“This scam of a bill is all about trying to pay back their billionaire donors with tax cuts for the 1%,” said Alsobrooks. “Republicans aren’t serious about helping working families. I know because we forced votes on amendments to prevent cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, defend civil servants from this witch hunt, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and protect Americans’ sensitive personal data from government overreach. Republicans voted all of them down. It’s painfully clear: the billionaires are getting exactly what they paid for with this President and this Republican Senate.”
