EASTERN SHORE, MD – In case you missed it, Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) was on the Eastern Shore on Monday. During her first event, Senator Alsobrooks met with business leaders in a fireside chat hosted by the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce.
For her second event, Senator Alsobrooks visited the Chesapeake Grove Intergenerational Center. This vibrant community hub fosters meaningful conversations across generations. Developed by Delmarva Community Services (DCS), the center blends services for seniors, children, and individuals with disabilities into one space. Senator Alsobrooks answered questions from seniors alongside Maryland Secretary of Aging Carmel Roques, Cambridge Mayor Lajan Cephas, and Delegate Sheree Sample-Hughes.
Senator Alsobrooks met with rural health care leaders for her final event. The conversation was held at the Talbot Community Center, just next to the location of the new University of Maryland Shore Regional Medical Center, and moderated by Cassandra Vanhooser, Talbot County Economic Development Director. This new, state-of-the-art medical complex, part of University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, is anticipated to open in 2028. Senator Alsobrooks was glad to have a productive discussion with a variety of health care leaders, including Ken Kozel – CEO of Shore Regional Health, Perrie Briskin – MDH Deputy Secretary for Health Care Finance/Medicaid Director, Easton Mayor Megan Cook, Talbot County Council President – Chuck Callahan, Health Department Officers, Emergency Services, and local health care businesses and providers.
