FREDERICK, MD – In case you missed it, Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) and Congresswoman April McClain Delaney (D-Md.-06) hosted a community conversation in Frederick at Hood College. Before the town hall, Senator Alsobrooks was in Western Maryland, meeting with constituents, hearing their concerns, and discussing their shared visions of a thriving region.
Senator Alsobrooks started the day by touring Main Street Westminster with Mayor Mona Becker, City Council President Pro-Tem Greg Pecoraro, and Councilman Dan Hoff. Next, the Senator sat down with Westminster’s Downtown Business Association to hear both their concerns and celebrate their successes. This business community goes above and beyond to support one another and ensure Westminster has a thriving economy. Senator Alsobrooks enjoyed a fantastic lunch at JeannieBird Baking Company while in town.
Finally, the Senator hosted a roundtable discussion about women’s health and fibroids at Frederick Health Hospital. Senator Alsobrooks was joined by Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and women’s health providers and advocates to discuss the future of women’s health care and how her Uterine Fibroid Intervention and Gynecological Health Treatment (U-FIGHT) Act will push for more fibroid research. Fibroids impact 80% of women, yet only 0.03% of our research dollars go to studying it.
