“RFK continues to prove he’s a threat to the health and well-being of every American citizen.” – Senator Alsobrooks
August 6, 2025
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) reiterated her call on RFK to resign or be fired immediately in response to news that he will cancel $500 million in vaccine development projects – including contracts with 22 mRNA-related projects.
“RFK continues to prove he’s a threat to the health and well-being of every American citizen. He must resign or be fired. Immediately.”
So far this year, Senator Alsobrooks has been a leading voice in the opposition to RFK and his dangerous conspiracy theories:
- In May, Senator Alsobrooks filed a Resolution of Disapproval of RFK. The resolution stated that the Senate and the American people have no confidence in RFK. It followed a “SICK OF IT” Rally Senator Alsobrooks hosted outside the NIH, in front of over 250 Marylanders, during which she called on RFK to resign or be fired.
- Senate Republicans rejected the Resolution of Disapproval after Senator Alsobrooks took to the Senate Floor to ask for Unanimous Consent.
- Senator Alsobrooks questioned RFK during his confirmation hearing, as well as Trump’s nominee for Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Brian Christine, about how their roles at the helm of HHS will impact Americans and how their beliefs may impact their decisions.
- In her latest questioning of RFK, RFK clearly lied, stating he hadn’t fired any scientists.
- In total, Senator Alsobrooks conducted oversight on the Department of Health and Human Services and the Trump Administration’s HHS nominees through seven hearings on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, including two hearings with RFK.
- Senator Alsobrooks led the Maryland Democratic Delegation in expressing outrage and demanding answers regarding the mass terminations of civil servants at HHS.
- In a letter to the HHS Secretary, RFK, Senator Alsobrooks and her colleagues questioned the extent of the devastation and consequential impacts these mass layoffs will have on the state and country.
- Senator Alsobrooks issued a dire warning after 10,000 employees at HHS were fired.
- Senators Angela Alsobrooks, Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), and Peter Welch (D-Vt.) held a two-day forum to examine the human harm caused by the Trump Administration’s shuttering of key departments and mass firings of health experts at HHS.
- Senator Alsobrooks condemned RFK for his firing of all 17 members of CDC’s Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices.
- Senators Angela Alsobrooks, Tim Kaine (D-Va), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and members of the Senate HELP Committee, released a report highlighting President Trump’s first 100 days in office and his disastrous policies hurting older Americans and people with disabilities. The report detailed Republican attacks on Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, the mass layoff of federal employees at HHS, and more.
- Senator Alsobrooks cosponsored a resolution led by Senators Wyden (D-Ore.), Markey (D-Mass.), and King (I-Maine) that expresses the sense of the Senate that RFK must withdraw the reversal of the Richardson Waiver that would now in turn reduce notice and public comments on HHS regulatory actions. This resolution mirrors a nearly identical, bipartisan resolution introduced in the House in 1982 that successfully pressured HHS to reverse course.
- Senator Alsobrooks cosponsored the Reduction in Force (RIF) Review Act introduced by Senator Merkley (D-Ore.). The bill aims to make RIFs actions subject to a Senate vote under the Congressional Review Act.
