CECIL AND HARFORD COUNTIES, MD – Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) spent Tuesday in Cecil and Harford counties. She began the day touring the Great Wolf Lodge and hosting an economic empowerment roundtable with Cecil County Executive Streight and Cecil County businesses and leaders. Next, she participated in a conversation with Harford County Executive Cassilly, Army Alliance Leadership, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) Leadership, and APG contractors. The Army Alliance is a non-profit community advocacy organization based in Aberdeen, Maryland, dedicated to the growth and preservation of APG. The Alliance’s core mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance the role of APG as a national cornerstone for defense excellence. Following the conversation, Senator Alsobrooks toured the Survice Drone Hanger at SURVICE Engineering and learned more about the role Marylanders play in delivering for America’s national security.

Senator Alsobrooks then had lunch at Box Hill Pizzeria & Crab Cakes in Abingdon, Virginia. Owned by the Kanaras family since 1984, it’s so popular that they sold 20,000 crabcakes in the month of December. Finally, Senator Alsobrooks met with Y Maryland Leadership at the Ward Y in Abingdon to discuss the Y’s federally funded programs, including Head Start, and the risks they face regarding potential future funding challenges. Following the roundtable, Senator Alsobrooks toured the facility and observed the youth and senior programs, including the senior pickleball clinic!

“Cecil and Harford counties are thriving – but we have more work to do. The cost of everything – groceries, medication, energy costs, rent, and more – is way too high and federal funding cuts and reciprocal tariffs are being felt across the entire state. But leaders in these counties continue to innovate and deliver for Marylanders. These counties prove what makes Maryland so spectacular – from the Great Wolf Lodge which is an economic engine for our state with one million visitors per year, to small businesses like Box Hill Pizzeria & Crab Cakes, to the role Marylanders play in delivering for America’s national security – our state has so much to offer, and we aren’t slowing down,” said Senator Alsobrooks.
