WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) released the following statement marking 100 days of Trump’s second term:
“Americans have sustained 100 days of Trump’s second term – and frankly – we’re sick of it. Of his callous witch hunt targeting civil servants, including the over 150,000 civil servants living in Maryland. Of his raising prices on working and middle class families with reckless and chaotic tariffs. Of his slashing Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security. Of his appointing dangerous cabinet members like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who is determined to turn back decades of progress in medicine and scientific research, who is targeting children with autism – calling to add them to a ‘registry’, and who is willing to bring back diseases we’ve already eradicated.
“And what is all this chaos for? To pay for billionaire tax cuts on the backs of hardworking families, like the family I grew up in.
“My father was a car salesman and my mother a receptionist. I grew up in a family where ‘a little pain’ went a long way. Where the rising costs of groceries could be devastating. And where cuts to programs like Social Security, Medicaid, and SNAP could leave behind generations of pain. America is full of families like mine.
“We won’t sit back as this President drags our families into a recession while the President’s billionaire friends pillage this country and destroy so much of what makes us great. We, and the majority of the American people, will continue to fight back.”
